Lissa Goldenstein — President & CEO and Co-Founder
Lissa is a co-founder of Auxogyn and serves as President, CEO and Board of Director. Prior to joining Auxogyn, Lissa was President and CEO of Artemis Health, Inc. (now Verinata Health, Inc), a venture-backed company focused on developing non-invasive prenatal diagnostic tests, where she defined the business strategy, broadened the product and intellectual property portfolio and secured more than $20 million in funding over a three year period. Prior to Artemis Health, Lissa was President and CEO of Argonaut Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AGNT) from 2001 to 2005, at which time Argonaut’s assets were sold to Biotage, AB. Lissa is a seasoned senior executive with over 30 years of leadership experience bringing new products to market predominately in the life science industry.
Lissa received her B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and received her Professional Engineers license as a structural engineer in the State of California.
Laura Francis — Chief Financial Officer
Laura is the Chief Financial Officer for Auxogyn. Prior to Auxogyn, she was the V.P of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer for Promega Corporation, a privately held life sciences company with ~$300 million in revenue. Before joining Promega, Laura was the Chief Financial Officer of Bruker BioSciences Corporation, a publicly traded life science company. Earlier in her career, Laura was an engagement manager with McKinsey & Co., a consulting firm, and an audit manager with Coopers & Lybrand, an accounting firm.
Laura holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University, a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, and a C.P.A. from the State of California.
Darrin Uecker — Chief Operating Officer
Darrin joined Auxogyn as Chief Operating Officer in 2014 and brings more than 20 years of medical device development experience. Prior to Auxogyn Darrin was the CEO/President at Gynesonics, a venture backed women’s health care company focused on the minimally invasive treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids, where he led the company from an early development stage to a mature clinical stage while raising more than $40M in venture investment. Previously Darrin was the Executive Vice President of R&D, Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs and Operations at Conceptus Inc., a publicly held women’s health care company. He also served as the Chief Technology Officer of RITA Medical Systems where he was responsible for R&D, operations, and business development functions. RITA was a publicly traded oncology device company specializing in radiofrequency ablation of solid tumors and was acquired in 2007 by AngioDynamics Inc. Prior to RITA Darrin served in roles of increasing responsibility with Computer Motion Inc., a pioneer in surgical robotic systems. He was Chief Technology Officer when the company was acquired by Intuitive Surgical Inc. in 2003. Darrin has extensive experience in product development, R&D, operations and business development in a variety of medical device markets. He is a named inventor on 57 U.S. patents and has led the development and launch of more than a dozen medical devices during his career.
Darrin received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Kristen Honl — Vice President, Regulatory and Clinical
Kristen is Vice President, Regulatory and Clinical for Auxogyn. Prior to joining Auxogyn, Kristen was VP of Regulatory, Clinical and Quality for Vibrynt, a bariatrics company. Previously, Kristen held a variety of roles at Boston Scientific/Guidant in both the Endovascular Solutions medical device division and in the Corporate Division. While in her corporate role at Boston Scientific, she was the Director of Global Compliance where she was responsible for the implementation of the company’s Corporate Integrity Agreement and for International Compliance and Quality matters. She also held a position as Director of Regulatory Affairs for the Endovascular Solutions Division of Guidant, where she had global responsibility for the carotid and peripheral stent product lines. Earlier in her career, she held regulatory positions of increasing responsibility at Medtronic and Cardiometrics as well as both quality and regulatory positions at Pacific Biotech.
Kristen holds a B.S. in biology from the University of Minnesota.
Sherree Lucas — Vice President of Marketing
Sherree joined Auxogyn as Vice President of Marketing in September 2013. Prior to joining Auxogyn, Sherree served in Marketing leadership roles in women’s health medical device companies. Most recently, she was Global Vice President of Marketing for Syneron, the largest medical device company in the aesthetic market. Before joining Syneron, Sherree was Sr. Vice President of Marketing for Viveve, a start-up, venture backed company. Prior to Viveve, she was Global Marketing Vice President for Solta Medical, a publically held aesthetic medical device company. Prior to her medical device experience, Sherree worked on Oral-B, a Gillette (now P & G) brand for 7 years in consumer brand management positions. In total, Sherree brings over 20 years of marketing leadership to Auxogyn.
Sherree holds an M.B.A. from NYU Stern School of Business and a BA in Business from Marshall University.
Louis Villalba — Vice President of Sales
Lou joined Auxogyn as Vice President of Sales in April 2013. Prior to joining Auxogyn, Lou served in a variety of pharmaceutical and medical technology sales and sales management positions focused on both the US and international market places. Most recently he served as General Manager of Europe for Conceptus. Previously, Lou held various Marketing, Sales Management, and Corporate Development positions at VIVUS, Inc. Earlier in his career, Lou served as Product Manager at Collagen Corp., and in various International Sales Management positions with Osbon Medical Systems.
Lou earned a BA in Business Management at Menlo College.
Mika Nishimura — Vice President of Commercial Development
Mika joined Auxogyn in April 2011 and serves as Vice President of Commercial Development. Prior to joining Auxogyn, Mika founded and built The BLG Group, a successful consulting practice advising both investors and device companies on critical strategic initiatives. Prior to The BLG Group, Mika served as Vice President of International Sales, Operations and Marketing at ev3 and Director of Global Marketing at Guidant Vascular, where she started and built franchises contributing significant, consistent revenue and profit growth with operations in over 30 markets. Mika is a seasoned senior executive with over 20 years of leadership experience in the medical device industry.
Mika holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. summa cum laude in Economics with distinction from Yale University.
Shehua Shen, M.D. — Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs
Shehua joined Auxogyn in September 2010 and serves as Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs. Prior to joining Auxogyn, Shehua was an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, and Director of the Embryology Laboratory at University of California, San Francisco from 2000 to 2010. Shehua has 18 years of experience in the field of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and has worked with IVF Programs at the Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island/Brown University Medical School, the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and the University of Washington.
Shehua received her M.D. at Second Military Medical University in Shanghai and is an active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB).
Alice A. Chen, Ph.D — Director, BioMedical Research
Alice joined Auxogyn in September 2011 and is currently the Director, BioMedical Research. Prior to Auxogyn, Alice was CSO and co-founder of Sienna Labs, a startup focused on developing medical pigments for laser medicine. Prior to Sienna Labs, Alice worked in Research Strategy & Planning at MIT and was a Biomedical Research Scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Alice brings over a decade of combined research & innovation experience in the areas of regenerative medicine, cell and tissue biology, mouse models, drug development, and micro/nano devices.
Alice received a B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, an S.M. in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics from MIT and Harvard Medical School.
