Position Summary
We are seeking an outstanding professional for the position of Senior / Principal Systems Engineer. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with Engineering, Clinical Research and Marketing teams to deliver novel solutions that advance patient care. The Senior / Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for and lead the design, development and productization of new products within the engineering team. This is a hands-on role that includes identifying innovative solutions specific to opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical design challenges. Additionally, developing, testing and transferring robust designs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Hands-on development of a next generation digital microscopy system with focus on robustness and manufacturability.
- Use broad expertise in optics and electronics to define optical sub system requirements.
- Ensure system integration by working with other engineering functions including software and electrical.
- Proto-type, integrates, test, and troubleshoot optical systems and electro-mechanical systems.
- Work in collaboration with marketing, clinical research and development, quality assurance, regulatory, material handling and engineering services.
- Identify and work with external suppliers.
- Manage third-party development partners from source selection through specification, design, integration, verification, and design transfer to manufacturing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Education and/or Job Experience:
- Prefer MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in Optics Design.
- Minimum 5 years in design and development of optics-based instrumentation representing a broad range of optical technologies.
- Experience in areas of digital, analog, and mixed-signal electronics and system integration with power supplies and cabling design.
- Experience in medical imaging systems or medical device product development.
- Experience with Solid Works.
- Experience with Zemax a plus.
- Knowledge of designing for safety and electromagnetic compliance, system integration with electro-mechanical and electro-optical devices.
